Miscanthus rhizomes
Commercial pricing for Miscanthus × Giganteus planting material. Delivery terms: FCA Sisak-Moslavina County, Croatia (Incoterms® 2020). All prices exclude VAT and transport costs. The price per hectare is for our standard density of 20,000 rhizomes per hectare: €0.18 a rhizome at three hectares and €0.15 from one hundred hectares. How much does a miscanthus rhizome cost?
Our list price is €0.18 a rhizome for an order for three hectares, €0.168 for ten, €0.156 for fifty and €0.15 from one hundred hectares; for 500 hectares and more we quote from €0.14. The prices exclude VAT and transport and apply FCA at our cold store in Sisak-Moslavina County, Croatia.
How much does the planting stock for one hectare cost?
€3,000-3,600 a hectare at our standard density of 20,000 rhizomes per hectare, depending on the size of the order (table above). At 15,400 or 17,800 rhizomes per hectare the cost falls in proportion; the three densities and the harvest chain each suits are compared in the planting article.
What is the minimum order?
One big bag of about 40,000 rhizomes, enough for about two hectares at 20,000 per hectare. The price list starts at three hectares; we quote the price of a smaller order on request. For a green hedge we supply from 300 rhizomes.
What do the prices include, and who arranges transport?
The prices are FCA (Incoterms® 2020): we hand the rhizomes over, loaded, at our cold store, without VAT. Transport is not included. The buyer books and contracts the carrier; we can give the contacts of refrigerated carriers we have worked with.
When are the rhizomes available, and when should I order?
From the end of February until the first days of May. We lift most of the stock to order, so we recommend ordering well in advance, preferably before January. Later in the season the stock may be sold and no lifting window left for a new order.
How are the rhizomes packed and stored?
In big bags on standard EPAL pallets. Until loading they are held in our cold store at +1 to +3 °C, which keeps them dormant. On arrival they should be kept cool, moist and dark and planted within days; the handling rules are in the planting article.
Which countries do you supply?
All of Europe and Ukraine. For Asia, Africa and other regions we need a pre-order at least six to eight months ahead: the stock is prepared for the order, and the import requirements are agreed with the plant-protection service of the importing country, which we handle together with the buyer.
Which documents come with the stock?
Within the EU, the EU plant passport, the commercial invoice and the CMR consignment note; we are a registered professional operator (EUPO HR-4141). For export from the EU, a phytosanitary certificate, the export customs documents and, where a preferential-origin agreement applies, a EUR.1 certificate.
How many rhizomes fail to establish?
Even sound rhizomes planted on time leave some losses. With stock of a traceable generation (G1-G2), such as ours, expect 5-15% of the rhizomes not to establish; with stock of unknown origin and age, losses at emergence can exceed 30%. This is one reason for planting above the target stand.
When are rhizomes planted?
In spring only, from late March to May, once the soil has warmed to about 10 °C; we do not plant in autumn. Depth, machines and density are covered in the planting article.
Can I buy rhizomes for a hedge?
Yes, from 300 rhizomes. A single row at 50 cm takes two rhizomes per metre, so 300 rhizomes plant 150 metres; the layouts in one to five rows are in the hedge article. Write to us with the length of the hedge, and we will confirm the quantity, the price and the date.
